Shrine Bar - 03.03.10

Stolen Rhodes made a very successful return to New York City on Wednesday night, playing at the Shrine Bar in Harlem. First off we must comment on how great of a venue this place was. Great mix of people, accented by a great mix of music throughout the night. The Dan Arcamone Trio provided the crowd with some solid and well played jazz, highlighted by the guitar skills of Arcamone. Stolen Rhodes went on second and played some of their funkier and soulful numbers including a sweet rendition of Beautiful Way and the return of Whipping Post to the set list. Following us was the nights headliner the Plaine Truth. If you are a fan of SR I highly suggest checking out the Plaine Truth. A great mix of rock and roll and blues of today and yesterday. All in all a great time was had by all parties involved and we look forward to playing at the venue again shortly.

Set List
Brand New Cadillac
Life Was Never Finer
All Night Long
One Day Everyday
Beautiful Way
Up On Cripple Creek (R. Robertson)
Whipping Post (G. Allman)
Keeps Us Moving

Once again we would like to remind everyone of the benefit concert being put on by the Brother Elks of Lakewood, NJ on Saturday March 6. The benefit is for local Lakewood resident Glenn Williscroft who is battling cancer. The event starts at 2 PM, and goes until 7. SR will be hitting the stage at 4 PM, and will be joined by our friends the Skyelanders. A $20 donation is being asked for. Hope to see you all there. Also a reminder that our show on Saturday night at Fans in Jackson is canceled as are all future appointments there. We have decided to tell you as fans of our music, as Fans decided that they wanted to be unprofessional and not tell us. We'll hopefully have another Surf Taco date soon.

After the show on Saturday the band will be taking a week off as Kevin is taking a vacation down to Florida to see some Phillies ST games, and Ian will be rehabbing his busted up finger (you've gotta see it...it's gross, and the fact he is playing on it is quite the wonder).

We'll be back with a force on March 19 in Doylestown, PA at Puck Live, and we'll be returning to the Jersey Shore on March 25th at the place where we got our start; McIntyre's in Toms River.

Hope to see everyone at the next gigs, and thanks for all of your support.

Milk Boy Coffee 02.27.2010

Hey all. We had a great night at Milk Boy Coffee in Ardmore, PA just outside of Philly on Saturday night. Saturday was a special night for SR fans who came out, as we played a somewhat mellower set than normal, because of Milk Boy's more intimate type setting. We played for about a solid hour and a half, featuring some rare covers, and a couple older tunes that haven't been played in a while including a blazing version of Brand New Cadillac complete with a pre-song bass diddy by Dan that drew applause from the crowd (see link in set list for video). The night also included a four song acoustic set (a welcome break for Ian who has been playing on a banged up right index finger the past few weeks) including a laid back Life Was Never Finer, and a haunting version of Falling of the Edge.

Set List:
Faded Pictures
Brand New Cadillac **Thank you Bill Cunningham
California
Little Wing (J. Hendrix)
One Day Everyday
Beautiful Way
All Night Long
Vultures (J. Mayer, S. Jordan, P. Palladino)
Freight Train
Idle Ways

Acoustic Set:
All I Need
Take Me Home
Life Was Never Finer
Falling off the Edge

Encore:
Wild Night (V. Morrison)
Keeps Us Moving

SR fans in NYC make sure you make your way out to the Shrine Bar in Manhattan on Wednesday night for a 10 PM show. This is our first appearance at what we continue to hear is a great venue.

Also for those of you in the Northern Ocean County Area we have two announcements. First off if you have the time and means please join Stolen Rhodes at the Lakewood Elks on Saturday afternoon at 2 PM for a special benefit show for Lakewood native Glenn Williscroft (Dan & Matt both hail from Lakewood originally). Glenn has been stricken with cancer and this is a show to help raise money for him and his family put on the Brother Elks of Lakewood. A $20 donation is asked for at the door. We hit the stage at 4:30 along with our good friends the Skyelanders providing pipe and drum music in between our sets...and who knows what other surprises might arise.

Secondly; for those of you planning on checking out our Fans show Saturday night in Jackson, please note that it is canceled, as are all of our future gigs there. That is all. We will be back for a show at Surf Taco soon.

Also keep checking the MySpace, Facebook, and Reverb Nation sites for all SR updates, and for you tweeters, make sure you become a follower of SR on Twitter.

Also Stolen Rhodes would like to congratulate the United States on their complete demolition of the 2010 Winter Olympics. USA! USA! USA!

Hope to see you all this week.

01.22.10 Mad Hatter (Sea Bright) & 01.23.10 Surf Taco (Jackson)

Hey all and welcome to the first ever Stolen Rhodes blog. We hope you enjoy.

We had a great weekend playing on the Jersey Shore. Friday night we we're up in Monmouth County at Mad Hatters in Sea Bright. We played three sets, with a two song encore. This was our first show at Mad Hatters; a watering hole for the locals of Northern Monmouth County. We opened with a blistering 1-2 combo of One Day Everyday into the Springsteen classic Spirit in the Night (an opening combo that has taken the place of the Peacemaker/Life Was Never Finer combo that dominated our set list during the summer and fall of '09). Peacemaker was moved to the end of the set for the first time kicking off the encore along with Keeps Us Moving. Other highlights from the show included a blistering rendition of the Tom Petty classic Mary Jane's Last Dance; which has expanded into a 6 or so minute long jam with guitar solos by Kevin and Matt. We also premiered our newest song, End of Alone; which the band agreed was one of the best songs played that night.

Keeps Us Moving

Saturday night we were back at Surf Taco in Jackson. The band played an epic 24 song; 3 hour marathon set with no breaks except for a drum set change as Matt's father Eddie Pillion came up and jammed on a blistering Up On Cripple Creek with us. The band also threw a "quiet" number into the set as Dan and Matt played a two guitar version of the Springsteen classic Atlantic City. Highlights of the night included a very solid and soulful Beautiful Way that involved Dan going into the crowd and fraternizing with a couple fans; a great version of the Stevie Wonder classic Superstition (complete with Dan's bass solo...and Dan's hair); and rousing rendition of Keeps Us Moving to close the night, with the SR Lovely Ladies on stage singing along.
